Dr. Shaw Tells Stories at the Schoolhouse

Watch a video of Dr. Darla Shaw sharing Revolutionary War stories of important and courageous women such as spy Lydia Darrow (Darragh), Sybil Ludington, and the legend of Abigail Ingersoll Olmstead.

Dr. Darla Shaw dropped by the Peter Parley Schoolhouse on Halloween for the last Sunday at the Schoolhouse of the season.

She shared a few harrowing Revolutionary War stories that featured important and courageous women such as spy Lydia Darrow (Darragh) and heroic teenager Sybil Ludington, as well as the legend of Abigail Ingersoll Olmstead and her red petticoat.

Lydia Darrow carried secret messages sewn into her petticoat to help the patriots. As Shaw puts it, “Who’s going to bother a woman?”

Watch a few minutes of her story-telling below.
