Can you tell us about your background and what drew you to the Ridgefield Historical Society?
I have been involved in local organizations for many years at my former home in New Jersey. When I moved to Ridgefield, a friend loaned me a book about the history of the town and I was fascinated with a history that goes back to 1709, especially how the town came into being and its early development. So when I was ready to get involved in town and local activities, the RHS presented me with a great opportunity.
How long have you lived in Ridgefield and what brought you here?
I am a relative newcomer, having moved here in January 2022. It wasn’t a “Covid-move” but instead a move from my prior home of 31 years. We did a fairly broad search in and around the NYC metropolitan area, and once we came upon Ridgefield, we knew this was the right kind of town for us. We love the charm, the history, the different feel of the place. In “the country”, but with access to so much culture and to the kinds of places we like to have nearby.
What is your area of focus on the Board of Directors at the Historical Society?
I welcome the opportunity to join the RHS at the Executive Board level. I have been a practicing lawyer and business advisor for many years, and I think my knowledge and experience can make me a valuable contributor in many ways. I am just starting to learn about all the exciting projects!
What is your favorite era of history? Is there a particular historical person, event, or topic you’re most interested in?
No specific area or person – if a person or an era is interesting, important in its own time or in terms of the legacy left for the future, I am interested.
What other interests do you have?
While the past can be fascinating, I am a big believer that we should all try to understand, appreciate, and enjoy our own time. I carefully follow politics and I listen to a lot of music. I enjoy the outdoors and can enjoy a good show on Netflix. I love to travel, and I love to return to my home in Ridgefield. And did I mention my Chinese cooking?
