Ridgefield Historical Society Announces 2024-25 Membership Campaign and the Catoonah Circle

Become a member of the Historical Society and join us in preserving Ridgefield's amazing history!

Since our founding in 2001 the Ridgefield Historical Society has grown significantly, from a small and committed corps of history-minded residents to a dynamic organization with town-wide impact. Not only do we actively collect the history of Ridgefield and preserve it in the remarkable vault below our historic 1714 Scott House headquarters, we also share it with the entire community, through an expansive calendar of events, educational programs, grant initiatives, and communications.

To ensure the work of the Ridgefield Historical Society continues for decades to come, we have created the Catoonah Circle, a sustaining membership tier for select benefactors of Ridgefield history and the community of Ridgefield.

We would like to invite you to become an inaugural member of this group.

Ridgefield history is precious and profound. Your commitment to the Catoonah Circle will support the Ridgefield Historical Society’s long-term health and assure our history is captured and shared for generations to come.

Introducing the Catoonah Circle

Catoonah Circle is a new membership tier, celebrating individuals, families, and organizations who generously contribute $1,000 or more annually. Named in honor of Catoonah, the esteemed chief of the Ramapoo tribe, this level of giving acknowledges his pivotal role in the early interactions between Native Americans and European settlers in the area now known as Ridgefield. It also pays homage to Catoonah Street, the historic location of our Scott House headquarters for nearly three centuries.
