The Town of Ridgefield Graveyard Restoration Committee is hosting a self-guided tour, Patriots & Loyalists in Olde Town Cemetery, featuring 27 graves of note. Each will be marked with a brief history of the interred: a map keyed to the sites will be provided to visitors.

Expect to find the final resting places of Keelers and Burrs, Stebbinses and Lees and many others, including a few Tories.

Parking will be accessed from the main entrance at Mapleshade Road; volunteers will assist drivers.

The Ridgefield Historical Society, which hosts the Graveyard Restoration Committee at the Scott House and contains its records, will help distribute tour information and have copies of Jack Sanders’ book, Here Lies the Body, available for purchase. The graveyard tour is over uneven ground and there is no accessible path to the cemetery. In the event of rain, the tour will take place Sunday, Oct. 30, 1-4 p.m.
