The chill and drizzle on Saturday, April 26 didn’t stop passersby from checking out what was going on under the awning at the Queen B Coffee Company. What they discovered was a free coffee tasting to introduce BEE HISTORIC, a coffee blend co-branded by Queen B and the Ridgefield Historical Society.
BEE HISTORIC was a hit. Several of those tasting the smooth, rich roast were inspired to buy a bag or two of whole beans. And after making their purchases, some stayed to learn more about the Ridgefield Historical Society before signing up as members. Nancy Rowe and James Segelstein, members of the Board of Directors of the Society were multitasking: pouring coffee while describing how the Historical Society preserves Ridgefield’s past and makes its extensive collections available to the community.

BEE HISTORIC came about due to the eagerness of Queen B’s founders, Heather and Jennifer Bellizzi, to reach out to town organizations. The two sisters got to work with the Ridgefield Historical Society on a new blend, offering to present the Society with a percentage of the selling price. The Bellizzis’ enthusiasm for their co-branders became clear when BEE HISTORIC’s label was unveiled and the bee in the Queen B logo was wearing a tiny Minuteman’s helmet. Twelve ounce bags will remain on sale at Queen B for all coffee lovers interested in trying an ‘historic’ new blend.
