On Saturday, April 27, a beautiful spring day, the Ridgefield Historical Society hosted Battle of Ridgefield Walking Tours. The sold-out tours featured an hour long walk down Ridgefield’s Main Street, on the 247th anniversary of the battle, from the site of the Battle’s Third Engagement to Keeler Tavern. We were honored to have a descendant of someone who participated in the battle in attendance! Along the way, the group met Revolutionary characters, including General Tryon, Charity Johnson, and Benedict Arnold, among others, who shared their stories. The tours, conceived and created by local luminary Dr. Darla Shaw, are ‘living history’ at its best. Thank you to our thespians, attendees, tour guides, and the event sponsor, Fairfield County Bank!
Our friends at The Ridgefield Press covered this event!
