Seeking a Social Media Intern

Love history and content creation? This paid summer position offers a chance to craft compelling digital stories about the people and places that shaped Ridgefield.

The Ridgefield Historical Society is seeking a paid Social Media Intern to support its growing digital outreach efforts in 2025. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work with a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and sharing the rich history of Ridgefield, Connecticut.

The intern will be responsible for creating engaging content about the history of Ridgefield’s people, places, events, and houses for the Historical Society’s social media platforms, with a focus on crafting compelling Instagram and Facebook reels, writing posts that spark curiosity, and helping build a stronger online presence to connect the community with Ridgefield’s heritage. A number of exciting Historical Society initiatives will be covered during this internship including the Ridgefield Garden Tour, Battle of Ridgefield Archaeology Project, Branchville Schoolhouse Restoration Project, Ridgefield Oral History Project, Ridgefield Holiday House Tour, and more.

Ideal candidates will have:


• Proven experience managing social media accounts, particularly Instagram and Facebook
• Strong visual storytelling skills and the ability to produce high-quality, engaging video content under tight deadlines, with attention to detail
• A passion for history, community engagement, and digital communication
• The ability to work independently and take initiative in managing tasks and meeting deadlines
• Experience using video and photo editing software
• A friendly and outgoing personality, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Creativity and originality in content creation, with the ability to respond positively to feedback and editorial direction

Applicants must submit samples of their work to demonstrate their creative and technical abilities.

This is a paid internship position (Connecticut minimum wage $16.35 per hour) up to 20 hours per week from mid-June through mid-August 2025. It is well-suited for students or recent graduates with a background in digital marketing, communications, media, or public history who are looking to apply their skills in a meaningful, mission-driven setting.
