Ridgefield History Club: Daughters of the American Revolution

The history of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Ridgefield’s Cannon Ridge Chapter will be the topic of the March meeting of the Ridgefield History Club, a free history discussion program of the Ridgefield Historical Society. The program will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday March 17, 2026 at the Scott House, 4 Sunset Lane.

Members of the Cannon Ridge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will lead the informal conversation, which focuses on sharing knowledge of Ridgefield’s past and is broadcast live on the Ridgefield Historical Society’s Facebook page for those who can’t attend in person.

The discussion will explore the founding of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) in 1890 and the history of Ridgefield’s own Cannon Ridge Chapter; the role of genealogical research in documenting Revolutionary War ancestry (each DAR member can trace her family tree to someone who contributed to American independence during the American Revolutionary War); personal stories of Revolutionary War ancestors; notable DAR members from Ridgefield’s past; the chapter’s ongoing educational, patriotic, and historic preservation community projects today; ways residents can become involved in the organization; and their upcoming Remembrance Ball on Sat. April 25, 2026.

Those with family stories, photographs, documents, or objects related to the Revolutionary War or the DAR are encouraged to bring them for show and tell.

All are welcome to this free gathering. Because seating is limited, advance registration is requested online here.
