Battle of Ridgefield: Separating Fact from Legend A Discussion with Historian Keith M. Jones III St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, North Hall Friday, April 28, 2017 at 7:00 PM On the afternoon of April 27,1777 an invading British army under His Majesty’s Royal Governor of New York, Major General William Tryon seized the town of Ridgefield. Next morning they marched back to their troopships in Long Island Sound, never to return.

Can you identify this man and woman?  These are two of the five miniatures portraits by Claude E. Quivey that were transferred to the historical society when the library donated some of their history room collection. Unfortunately, the identities of these individuals were lost in the transfer. This pump house at one time provided water to the former Ballard estate now Ballard Park. The top of the building was removed years ago. The structure is located behind the park playground just beyond the fence in Ballard Green.
