SUMMARY:Cocktails and the Collector
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKET\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nImmerse yourself in the enduring influence of modern art and vie for the opportunity to take home vintage artwork yourself on June 25 at  “Cocktails and the Collector\,” a Party\, Art Auction\, and Show hosted jointly by and benefiting the Ridgefield Guild of Artists and the Ridgefield Historical Society. \n\n\n\n“Cocktails and the Collector” takes place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday\, June 25\, at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists\, 34 Halpin Lane\, Ridgefield. CT. The event celebrates the final week of the Guild’s monthlong “Mad for Modern” Art Exhibit\, which runs from Saturday\, June 6\, to Sunday\, June 28. \n\n\n\nAttendees at “Cocktails and the Collector” will enjoy all the new artworks on exhibit\, be treated to libations and nibbles\, live music and dancers\, and have the opportunity to bid on original 20th-century artwork being donated from the Segelstein family’s private collection.  \n\n\n\nView auction items (bidding starts on June 18) and register to participate here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/mad-for-modern-cocktails-and-the-collector-auction Auction items will include signed lithographs by Salvador Dali and Peter Max\, along with original etchings by Etienne Ret\, and work by Ludwig Bemelmans\, the writer/ illustrator of the beloved children’s book character\, Madeline. All pieces date from the 1950s-’70s.  \n\n\n\nThe evening is part of the new “Mad for Modern” programming by the Historical Society on the architecture\, design and built environment of Ridgefield’s modern and postmodern era. SUMMARY:Last Sundays at the Schoolhouse
DESCRIPTION:Last Sundays at the Schoolhouse\n\n\n\nThe Peter Parley/West Lane District Schoolhouse\, now a small museum operated by the Ridgefield Historical Society\, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m Sunday\, June 28\, 2026. Admission to the schoolhouse is free\, donations are accepted. \n\n\n\nDuring each open house\, guests are invited to tour the one-room school (last used by students in 1915) and learn about how Ridgefield’s district schools were organized and what has become of the structures where 18th\, 19th and some 20th Century Ridgefielders received all of their education. Ridgefield Town Historian Jack Sanders and Historical Society Vice President\, Sally Sanders\, who are the schoolhouse’s stewards\, will be on hand to answer questions. \n\n\n\nAs part of the Gateway Project\, a Semiquincentennial project to upgrade the three trianglesalong Route 35 leading to Main Street\, has brought a new roof and chimney facing to theschoolhouse\, and accent lighting to the grounds\, which will undergo further landscaping shortly.

DESCRIPTION:History Club on July 21: Ridgefield Then and Now with Jack Sanders\n\n\n\nHow much of Ridgefield has changed over the past 150 years and how much remains the same? This will be Town Historian Jack Sanders’ topic in an illustrated talk for the Ridgefield History Club on Tuesday\, July 21\, at 10 a.m. at the Ridgefield Historical Society’s Scott House\, 4 Sunset Lane. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Ridgefield History Club is an informal community storytelling program of the Ridgefield Historical Society. The group meets for an hour on the third Tuesday of every month to explore a specific topic in Ridgefield’s history through shared conversation. \n\n\n\nEach session is recorded and cataloged in the Historical Society’s archive to preserve these stories for future generations. The program is also streamed live on Facebook and uploaded to our YouTube channel. Everyone is invited\, just bring your curiosity and your love of history. Some attend every month\, while others join when a topic holds special meaning for them. Longtime Ridgefield residents and newcomers alike are welcome.
