1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Step back in time into the 18th-century Peter Parley Schoolhouse! Watch a video about Peter Parley, its most famous “scholar”. See old desks, quill pens, and a potbellied stove. Find out which of Ridgefield’s twelve little red schoolhouses was closest to your house. Read the strict teacher’s rules and play with colonial toys!
On October 28, join us for an afternoon of ghost stories, poems, and songs told by Martha Bishop, a former teacher and member of the Connecticut Storytelling Center. Through her extensive research, Ms. Bishop has discovered that Connecticut is one of the most haunted states in the US and that Fairfield County is the most haunted county in Connecticut.
Halloween stories will be told at 1:30 and 3:30 pm. A Halloween-decorated antique pickup truck will be parked in the front yard, and an ice cream truck will be available for frozen treats.
The schoolhouse is open from 1 pm to 4 pm the last Sunday of each month, from May through October. Click here for directions.
