Sign up here to join the waitlist and we’ll let you know if tickets become available: https://forms.gle/p5kmTrncp8S2HF168 \n\n\n\nTake a walk through the history of southern Main Street with author and town historian Jack Sanders on Saturday\, Oct. 10 (rain date Oct. 17)\, at 10 a.m. The 90-minute walk will begin and end at Jesse Lee United Methodist Church at 207 Main Street (corner of King Lane and Main Street). He is the author of Ambling Along Old Main Street which can be ordered online here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSanders will share stories about the many interesting people who have lived in homes and had businesses on Main Street on a route that will go north as far as St. Stephen’s Church and south as far as the southernmost crosswalk on Main Street. He’ll describe buildings that are no longer standing as well as tell how some have been altered or moved. \n\n\n\nThe group size is limited to twenty people\, age 12 or older. Tickets are limited and nonrefundable\, all sales are final. Pricing is $35 or discounted at $30 for active members of the Ridgefield Historical Society. SUMMARY:Halloween at the Schoolhouse
DESCRIPTION:Halloween at the Schoolhouse\n\n\n\nThere will be treats\, not tricks\, on Sunday\, Oct. 25\, at the Peter Parley/West Lane District Schoolhouse on West Lane. It’s the final Sunday open house of the 2026 season and traditionally we invite visitors to come in costume. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn about a prank at the schoolhouse that had lasting consequences for the schoolhouse or read about the hermitess Sarah Bishop\, whom Samuel G. Goodrich (Peter Parley) portrayed in a poem as The Mountain Hag. \n\n\n\nThe West Lane School was established in the mid-18th Century and served the neighborhood until 1915. It is now a small museum of early Ridgefield education\, maintained by the Ridgefield Historical Society. Admission is free on Sunday\, 1 to 4 p.m. \n\n\n\nLast Sundays at the Schoolhouse take place May through October; for more information about the schoolhouse\, visit ridgefieldhistoricalsociety.org.
