TRICENTENNIAL: Ridgefield birthday bash begins Sunday

Ridgefield Press

Grovelawn, now the Community Center, is shown as it appeared a hundred years ago when it was the home of Gov. Phineas Lounsbury. On Sunday, the town%u2019s 300th anniversary celebration will begin there with a free party.

At the time that Britain was imposing the Stamp Act on the American Colonies, Timothy Keeler was opening a tavern that would serve as Ridgefield’s first post office.

But that is just one episode that happened during Ridgefield’s formative years. What else did? Ridgefielders can find out at the Meet Our Ancestors Opening Reception at the Ridgefield Community Center on Sunday, Jan. 6. from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event is free of charge.
