Dick Venus, born in Ridgefield in 1915, grew up listening to the stories that were told by many of the people who lived and worked here. As a young boy his first job was delivering the local paper. Later he worked on a dairy farm and gained enough experience to become a superintendent of a local farm. He soon started his own dairy and delivered the milk himself. In the 1960’s Dick was appointed Ridgefield’s postmaster, served on the board of selectmen, and various committees and community organizations. He became town historian in the 1980’s.
