What better way to learn a little history than by helping the society
archive and organize its collection ... or by researching real people and
structures that contributed to Ridgefield's past. We need your help
in many areas, but the following tasks are most pressing:
Archives Committee: Help label new items, enter them in our
electronic database and archive in the vault.
Genealogy Committee: Track down the history of Ridgefield's
founding families and enter the findings in our family-tree software file.
Education Committee: Work with the Ridgefield School system to
develop programs for elementary, middle and high school students.
Newsletter Committee: Help write, organize, print, and mail our
quarterly newsletter
Historic Preservation Committee: Research, photograph, and protect
more than 500 architecturally or historically important structures.
Original Research: Actually conduct your own research project about
the town's past under supervision of society staff and the assistant town
historian.
If these assignments, or any other, pique your interest, call the
Ridgefield Historical Society at 438-5821 any Tuesday, Wednesday, or
Thursday afternoon.
